We are proud to announce that Övul O. Durmusoglu will come to Nordiska Gästateljén in September within the project Curatorial Residency in Stockholm (CRIS).
In conjunction to Durmusoglu's residency in Stockholm there will be a public conversation on February 23rd at the Nordic Guest Studio, Malongen.
Övul O. Durmusoglu is a curator and writer. She is the director/curator of YAMA screen in Istanbul. She works as a curatorial advisor to Gulsun Karamustafa's monograph in Hamburger Bahnhof in 2016. She also co-leads 'Solar Fantastic’, a research and publication project between Mexico and Turkey. Durmusoglu has recently curated 'Future Queer', the 20th year anniversary exhibition for Kaos GL association in Istanbul. In the past, she acted as the curator of the festival Sofia Contemporary 2013 titled as 'Near, Closer, Together: Exercises for a Common Ground'. She organized different programs and events as a Goethe Institute fellow at Maybe Education and Public Programs for dOCUMENTA (13).
CRIS (Curatorial Residency in Stockholm) exchange with HIAP (Helsinki International Artist Programme).
Through an exchange with HIAP we can also announce that curator Stefanie Hessler will be in residency at The Cable Factory, Helsinki in March 2016. A curator (TBC) based in Finland will be staying at Malongen in Autumn 2016.
Stefanie Hessler (DE/SE) is an independent curator and writer. She is the co-founder of the art space Andquestionmark in Stockholm (with Carsten Höller). She was co-curator of Tunnel Vision, The Nordic biennial of contemporary art, Momentum 8 and currently curating the exhibition Speed at the Mamam – Museu de Arte Moderna Aloísio Magalhães in Recife.
Curatorial Residency in Stockholm (CRIS) is a collaboration between the Nordic Art Association in Sweden and Jonatan Habib Engqvist, curator and writer. During their residency period, curators live in central Stockholm and can immerse themselves in the local art scene. It was conceived in 2015 as free-space for curators. Previous guests have been Eva González-Sancho (ES) and Abir Boukhari (SY).
CRIS is supported by The Swedish Arts Council and the city of Stockholm as well as local collaborations for each guest. CRIS is currently developing collaborations with, among other places Townhouse Gallery (Cairo) and Residency Unlimited (New York).

Vi annonserar stolt att Övul O. Durmusoglu kommer till Nordiska Gästateljén i september som gäst inom projektet Curatorial Residency in Stockholm (CRIS).
I anslutning till Durmusoglus vistelse i Stockholm anordnas ett publikt samtal den 23 februari på Malongen.
Övul O. Durmusoglu är curator and skribent. Hon är direktör/curator av YAMA, ett publikt skärmprojekt i Istanbul och curatoriell rådgivare för Gulsun Karamustafas monografiska utställning på Hamburger Bahnhof 2016. Hon är också sam-ansvarig för 'Solar Fantastic’, ett forsknings och publikationsprojekt mellan Mexiko och Turkiet. Durmusoglu har nyligen curerat 'Future Queer', en utställning för for Kaos GL association Istanbuls i samband med deras 20-årsjubileum. Genom ett samarbete med HIAP kan vi också annonsera at curator och skribenten Stefanie Hessler kommer att åka på vistelse vid Kabelfabriken i Helsingfors under mars 2016. En curator från finland kommer att vistas på Malongen under hösten 2016.

CRIS är ett samarbete mellan Nordiska Konstförbundet och Jonatan Habib Engqvist, curator och skribent. Under sina residensperioder, vistas curatorer i centrala Stockholm och erbjuds möjligheten att ta del av den lokala konstscenen. CRIS är tänkt som ett frirum. CRIS utvecklar för närvarande samarbeten med, bland andra platser, Townhouse Gallery (Kairo) och Residency Unlimited (New York). Tidigare gäster har varit Eva González-Sancho (ES) och Abir Boukhari (SY).
CRIS möjliggörs genom stöd från Kulturrådet och Stockholm Stad samt lokala samarbeten för varje gäst.
