On the evening of February 5-6 the Nordic Art Association hosts the CORE Meetings of theCrossSections project in Stockholm as part of her residency.

Nordic Art Association hosts the CORE Meetings of the CrossSections project in Stockholm. CrossSections is a cross disciplinary research platform focusing on the meaning of “process” in artistic research with aim to articulate critical reactions to the political, economic, and social disturbances facing us today. The project emerged from the need to challenge the ‘status quo’ across the political spectrum and support effective and critical forms of discursive and artistic productions to emerge. In the course of two years (2017-2018), the project is expected to engage with a number of artists, scholars and cultural workers, producing a varied forms of meetings, residencies, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and talks designed to be held in three cities: Vienna, Helsinki, and Stockholm.
The participants of the meetings will be Barbara Holub (AT), Behzad Khosravi Noori (IR/SE), Egle Oddo (IT/FI), Isa Rosenberger (AT), Lina Selander (SE), Nisrine Boukrari (SY/SE), Ramesch Daha(AT), Ricarda Denzer (DE/AT), Tamsin Snow (IE/UK), Timo Tuhkanen (FI) and Yane Calovski (MK) along with the curator of the project Basak Senova (TR) and partners of the project.
Basak Senova is a curator and designer. Studied Literature and Graphic Design (MFA in Graphic Design and Ph.D. in Art, Design and Architecture at Bilkent University). Attended the 7th Curatorial Training Programme of Stichting De Appel, Amsterdam. Lectured in various universities in Turkey as an assistant professor (1998-2017). Was appointed as the Resident Fellow at the University of the Arts, Helsinki in co-operation with HIAP (2017). Received Associate Professorship degree on Fine Arts by the Higher Education Council of Turkey (2017).
She has been writing on art, technology and media, initiating and developing projects and curating exhibitions since 1995. One of the founding members of NOMAD; the organizer of "ctrl_alt_del" sound art project; and "Upgrade!Istanbul". Editor of various publications, editorial correspondents of ibraaz.org and Turkish correspondent of Flash Art International. Acted as an advisory board member of the Turkish Pavilion in Venice Biennial and the Istanbul Biennial (2014-2017), and a member of the International Biennial Association’s (IBA) editorial board. Curator of the Pavilion of Turkey at the 53rd Venice Biennale. Co-curated the UNCOVERED (Cyprus) and the 2nd Biennial of Contemporary Art, D-0 ARK Underground (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Acted as the Art Gallery Chair of (ACM) SIGGRAPH 2014 (Vancouver); the curator of the Helsinki Photography Biennial 2014; and the Jerusalem Show VII: Fractures (2014). In 2015, curated the Pavilion of Republic of Macedonia at the 56th Venice Biennale and Lines of Passage (in medias res) Exhibition in Lesvos (2016). Currently, working on a long-term project CrossSections in Vienna, Helsinki, and Stockholm.
Curated by Basak Senova, CrossSections project is organized in partnership of Kunsthalle Exnergasse, (WUK Werkstätten und Kulturhaus) in Vienna; IASPIS - the Swedish Arts Grants Committee's International Programme for Visual and Applied Artists, Konstfack, University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, and The Nordic Art Association in Stockholm; Nya Småland in different locations in Sweden; HIAP - Helsinki International Artist Programme and University of the Arts Helsinki - Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki; and Press to Exit Project Space in Skopje, Macedonia.
