Welcome to a public conversation on February 23rd at the Nordic Guest Studio, Malongen, in conjunction to Lorenzo Sandoval´s residency within the project Curatorial Residency in Stockholm (CRIS).

Sandoval works in the crossing points of artistic practice, curatorial processes and spatial design. He holds a B.F.A and he is writing the thesis for the Masters in Photography, Art and Technology from the UPV (Valencia, Spain). He has exhibited in many venues internationally as well as attending international residencies in Denmark, Spain, Germany, Portugal and Kenya. He received curatorial prizes such as Inéditos 2011, Can Felipa curatorial prize and Nochueras Blanchard curatorial challenge 2012. 'Deep Surface' at L'Atelier-ksr and 'Your Skin Is a Frozen Wave' at BDP Bür were his last solo shows in Berlin in 2016.  He recently won the art prize 'Generación 2017' that will be presented in La Casa Encendida (Madrid) in 2017. Since 2015, he runs the fictional institution 'The Institute for Endotic Research'.

Curatorial Residency in Stockholm (CRIS) is a collaboration between the Nordic Art Association in Sweden and Jonatan Habib Engqvist, curator and writer. During their residency period, curators live in central Stockholm and can immerse themselves in the local art scene. It was conceived in 2015 as free-space for curators. Previous guests include: Eva González-Sancho (ES), Abir Boukhari (SY), Övul O. Durmusoglu (TU) Juha Huskonen (FI), Marina Vale Noronha (BRA) and Elena Agudio (IT). This year CRIS has also been able to send Swedish curators to Egypt, Finland and Turkey. CRIS is supported by the city of Stockholm as well as local collaborations for each guest. CRIS is currently developing collaborations with, among other places HIAP (Helsinki), MASS (Alexandria) and Residency Unlimited (New York).

Lorenzo Sandoval´s residency has been made possible with the generous support of the Embassy of Spain in Stockholm.
